Nawh! He's an athlete, Jack. He admires the fact that at weekends in Winter, she probably wrestles with Polar Bears and eats Moose burgers!

Tony- 09-04-2008

Don't do burgers PS! Naked snow wrestling with a polar bear... hmmm... nope, doesn't do a lot for me... naked wrestling on a polar bear rug...??? Not the Oliver Reed/Alan Bates type though...

Tony- 09-04-2008

Of the two, Hillary and Sarah I wold have to concede that Hillary has a lot more appeal... but apparently not as much as Monica.

Philosopher's Stoned- 09-04-2008

Not you with the boigers (Instant Bowrey accent) her! Hillary? You cannot be serious, Man! She's bloody pear shaped! That's why she always wears trousers! Legs like a lumberjack: probably hairy too. The first time I set foot in California, with the idealised TV concept of lush-hipped maidens like the Baywatch Babes, I was literally stunned! What has to be remembered is the root of US citizens were short, stocky, hairly peasants. And the arses................................................................... In the UK they would probably buy their denims from Millets: remodelled bell tents! The odd doll is precisely that: odd; as in rare. I did meet a few nice ladies but however that's another tale for another day. Like Kathie....................

Tony- 09-04-2008

Hey... read wot I rote! I simply made a comparison between the two - NOTHING MORE! Palin's jaw is about as wide as Clinton's arse! Personally if either were offered to me on a plate I'd need a blue pill to physically show willing... they are blue aren't they? You'd probably know more about that than me PS, wot, wiv you bein older an all 8)

Jack London- 09-04-2008

Yes, lots of fat backsides in America. I noticed that as well. As for Hilary and Sarah: I would plump for the latter. (No pun intended!)

Tony- 09-04-2008

The voice would kill it at the conversation stage, Jack, or would you use the ball gag and gimp mask? Leaving the physical to one side, Hillary has a lot more going for her than the pitbull/barracuda. I dare say that she can be ruthless and cold, but there's a lot more warmth about her than Palin... maybe Palin is a product of her environment? Cold fish and on a plate I'd be more likely to reach for condiments than condoms!

Jack London- 09-05-2008

McCain was bad (apparently). http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/michaeltomasky/2008/sep/05/johnmccain.republicans2008

Tony- 09-05-2008

He wasn't bad, he just wasn't good. He doesn't carry any great force when he speaks and has, consequently been overshadowed by the 'pitbull with lipstick' - I wasn't wrong when I called her that yesterday! Did I start something or was it just a coincidence? Once the campaigning gets underway things will change for him... but not necessarily for the better. The televised debates, as I also said yesterday, will have big impacts on the whole thing. Any predictions? Yes, it may be close... it may be a landslide! Which side will win? It will be the Democrats... or the Republicans! I think that what will determine this con-*test*-('") will be the mistakes that the candidates make and the biggest one that they are both making right now is that neither has coherent, published policies that define who they are. They are both using the same soundbite - change. And that is simply not enough. That has to change and soon, but I also think that we will see a lot of stealing the other's policies - same shit that happens here, although I can't see Cameron nicking too much of Brown's crap!

Philosopher's Stoned- 09-05-2008

So, what does his speech matter? At this time in politics (and particularly so in the USA) the GOP could put up a monkey; Hm well they did last time around! What really counts are the saturation advertising emerging from not only the campaign HQ, but more critically, the PACs: forsooth, these manipulators use leading business exces to order their workforce how to vote using a combination of bullying and fear. Works particulary well in sensitive industries such as armaments. "Want your job to continue?" Vote McCain!" They even set up company funds to take subscriptions from each employee's wage packet and remit this to GOP HQ! Above all else, the GOP enjoys massive support from the most lucrative industries, such as oil and gas, defence, banking, amoral M & A outfits like KKK, Hedge Funds, aviation, etc. Most Americans now see the Dems as standing for a liberalisation of politics and society (remembering that in most of the USA the term "Liberal" is highly perjurative!), supporting such as the ACLU and as apologists for a raft of perceived ills such as kooks, nutters and paedohiles: perhaps more critically, the Dems would proscribe the death penalty in an age of rising crime. Whereas the GOP would hang 'em high! The Dems simply don't have access to sufficient funding, to counter the mainly, untruths that the GOP will throw into the arena. Clinton won since he wasn't overtly "Liberal": Obummer clearly is. When he feels like it! Add the re-emergence of the American Far Right Fundamentalist Christian movement who are totally against all the liberal shit that Obummer stands for like abortion, gay marriage and etc, throw in the fear of voting in a black man; taking away their guns (The NRA are vociferous lobbyists for the GOP!), McCain has it made.

Tony- 09-05-2008

I don't think that McCain has it made and I don't think that the advertising power that the GOP has will make as much difference as you think. This election is different. When Bush was elected the Dems were outflanked as well as cheated and that still doesn't sit well with the voters. Obama IS different, whether he will prove to be ay good or not is a different matter. Obama appeals to a lot of people who haven't voted before as well as NOT appealing to many Democrats who would have voted for Clinton. I think choosing Biden was a mistake, and McCain choosing Palin could work well or very badly - she's clearly a dangerous animal, but that's fine, provided control is exercised, but she could easily turn out to be McCain's worst enemy if she starts showboating and running on her own messages. She could set the electorate wondering who exactly is going to be president and that could punch a big hole in McCain. The jury is out and there are a lot of things that will happen in the next 60 days. And, no, that speech doesn't matter, it will be 'yesterday's news' very quickly. His problems with teleprompters are irrelevant, he's not in the same remedial class as Bush is where Bush could read a teleprompter but not be able to use his very limited brain. McCain's biggest drawback is his age and the fact that he will not be re-elected, he is a one-term option. Even if he does get elected and does a good job it will be all up for grabs again in 4 years time.

Years ago, more than I care to remember, in an A Level Economics class, our tutor had a knack of dictating passages and slipping in the odd line of complete irrelevance to catch 'us' out. The most memorable line was during a particularly dry, boring topic (isn't ALL economics dry?) and he slipped in this "... under layers of subcutaneous fat." I don't remember what the topic was unfortunately. Out of the 15 in the class I was the only one that didn't write it down. All the rest followed like sheep until he stopped and they looked up and wondered why we were both grinning like Cheshire cats. Bush would read that out, McCain wouldn't.

I've reached the point, Tony where I have concluded that the majority of Americans are a case of arrested development! I believe it to be too much sugar, trans fatty acids, growth hormones in beef; ditto in chicken: the shit in drinks like Lilt, Coke, Seven Up etc. And chemicals generally in their holistic atmosphere. It doesn't actually matter much WHAT the candidates say: certain tirgger words have the audience screeching like five year olds (this hugely irritating habit has now spread to the UK: any TV programme which wheels out some unknown plonker who just happens to push a broom up a street in a soap, will be greeted by squeals of bladder straining proportion by the moronic studio audience. The majority of mentally challenged American voters will do precisely what their church tells them to do: their boss: barkeep; and of course the media. Now since the media is dominated by Right Wing Fascists like Farter Murdoch, the GOP owned and majority press and TV will brainwash 'em to vote McCain. And the Carlisle Group and Papa Bush will tell him what to do!

Tony- 09-05-2008

Even the most intelligent Americans (if that isn't another classic oxymoron) are comparative retards because they have little or no knowledge of the 'real' world and America's place in it. I remember when I saw some disaster or other being reported on USTV on one of my many trips, over 25 now, and the reporter blathered on about how the 'entire world had sent tv crews to cover it'. She turned to indicate the array of trucks behind her... all of which were American stations. The 'entire world' couldn't give more than a half-raised eyebrow as to what goes on in the mundane world of America and their insistence otherwise is laughable. They are so insular and wrapped up in themselves that they are a laughing stock when they go abroad - just like having the World Series of baseball and 'crowning' the victors as "Wooooorrrrrrllllldddd Champeeeeens" when only two other countries, Japan and Cuba take the game seriously and they are barred from taking part! However, that said, the GOP have seriously shat in the nest and a large proportion of the voters don't like the smell. Also 30+% of the voters don't normally bother to vote, but this time, Obama is creating interest and that section are stirring. I don't think that McCain is a certainty, far from it, I do believe that Obama has a good chance but a lot of it will depend on the VP candidates as I said above. We will have to wait and see, but it would be a mistake to think that the media is going to entirely control this one.

Philosopher's Stoned- 09-05-2008

Dunno, T. A majority seems to support the "Just cause" of Bush's attempted grab of Iraq's oil assets. They all, Dems Goppies whatever, gob on about "Their brave boys fightin' fer freedom against opression" and the rest of the shit, ably galvanised by the right wing media. Agree about their narrow focus perspective and how America is the World: staggering how few in terms of the total population actually hold or have ever held a passport, for example. Brown blames "The global credit crunch": Dubya and gang blame "Terrah!" Effing morons the lot of 'em in my book!
