US Election Result - implications for FoS, FoE
If as expected Obama romps home to victory next week, I think that the world will become a very different place. Currently the USA is one of the few countries where free speech is protected under the constitution and it's no coincidence that this forum is hosted there. It would simply be too much of a risk to have it based in the UK. Those who have followed the election closely will have observed a tendency during the Obama campaign to use the "R" word to attack opponents. For example, if you say that Obama's manifesto is 'socialist' then you are labelled a 'racist' etc. With Obama in power in the US and the EU gaining even more ground here in Europe, I can't help thinking that the ideological conflict will intensify immeasurably.

If you actually examine Obummer's stated policies and objectives, Sir P, they are little different from Bush's or McCain's. Any endeavour to either gag free speech and freedom of expression will, I believe be treated with precisely the same violent objection as will his stated objective of changing US gun laws. His first problem will be sorting out the economy! Which is findamentally impossible as it now relies on external, mainly Asian and Arab perspective.
