Fourteen officers were killed on the spot and two more died on the way to hospital. The raiders were arrested.
They will be tried quickly and executed immediately after. The Chinese don't mess about.

I'm a bit cynical about this "terror threat" in China.
It all seems just a bit too convenient, an excuse to justify a crack-down.
I'm not saying that Islamic separatists don't exist in Western China - I know they do - I just doubt whether they represent as much of a threat as the Chinese are saying.

The Chinese have never been slow to crack down on 'rebels' - look at Tibet.
They, like all despotic regimes, will always exaggerate situations to justify unjustifiable responses.
However, in view of 16 people dead I think that they have every justification for going after the organisation behind it in a way that we wouldn't have the guts to do - unless of course you happen to live in Iraq or Afghanistan... which makes it alright.
