The Magna Carta! Tripe? You disappoint me Tony. Anyway, I thought this thread would spark a discussion about the Magna Carta, et al (at least PS made an attempt to discuss it). Even a discussion about the NLP and the way small parties try and raise their profile. Instead, I just get stupid bitterness. Why bother?

Tony- 06-08-2008

Yes, Jack, why bother? Waste of time for the crap that you are promoting, but then you knew that before you posted it. Maybe you were hoping someone would send a donation without checking it up properly first? Two chances Jack, fat and slim, and Slim just left town!

Philosopher's Stoned- 06-09-2008

OK, Jack: I'll bite! Perhaps instead of trying to promote the wrong instrument of legislation, it would have been far better to promote something that has to chime with a majority. In terms of marketing and PR, small organisations can gain much greater traction by focus on a Single Issue which resonates with a majority. Thus in this case, with Government running amok and knee jerk reactions such as detaining suspected terrorists for 42 days being rubbished by all and sundry (e.g.) it is high time that citizens were enabled to seize back some of their rights lost since Thatcher started driving the UK backwards in 1979. Promote what was promised by BLiar: A Bill of Rights and at last, a written British Constitution. That would be a start. It is wholly significant to me, how the louche homosexuals and lesbians managed, from a slender beginning, to promote their narrow focus interests some years back, when a majority of these people were scared to "Come Out" and support the various initiatives. Consider where they are now! Effective militancy, combined with careful PR works every time, no matter how small the organisation.

The Magna Carta! Tripe? More disingenuity. I didn't say that the Magna Carta was tripe, I said that the package you were promoting was tripe. Anything attached to the heels of jackboots is unwelcome. You should lighten up, get yourself an invite to one of Max Mosley's parties... always assuming you don't already have one. --- PS I hope that you will be sending an invoice for the advice you have just given... I suggest that a tenner might be appropriate! :D

Jack London- 06-09-2008

"...jackboots...." What the fook are you on about!

Philosopher's Stoned- 06-09-2008

PS I hope that you will be sending an invoice for the advice you have just given... I suggest that a tenner might be appropriate! I doubt they could afford it presently, Tony! And at £10 it's a bargain since I charge upwards of £175/hour these days for fairly simple UK consultancy assignments! Plus travel and per diem. And, of course, an upfront minimum, to avoid the timewasters and the dreamers: and boy! As the UK economy tanks, there's plenty of those! :D

Jack London- 06-09-2008

Would anyone give a tenner (never mind £175/hour) for Tony's political advice? He has such an enviable track record, after all!

Tony- 06-09-2008

Hey, at least I know when to bale out of a sinking ship! And I wouldn't dream of offering you any advice, Jack, you know everything already.

It's a bit of a tangent but this is very true: The trouble is that ministers have failed to make their case for a hypothetical 42 days among the political elite and the Brown-baiting media

Tony- 06-11-2008

Doesn't this smack of a similar desperation to 45 mins to WMD? Nothing much to support it but a PM who needs it to maintain some sort of credibility. Earlier on PMQs Brown was banging on about how the police and MI5 were saying they needed it, Cameron made the point that the prosecution weren't asking for it, but they are probably the most important as they have to approve the case. The security services don't need ANY TIME AT ALL for detention, by the time some plonker has been retained their work has been done. The only people who MIGHT need extra time is PLOD. And we all know why that is. Why do policemen all drive around in pairs? . . . . . Because one is good at letters and the other good at numbers...

Percy- 06-11-2008

Desparation is right and with large numbers of HIS OWN MP's voting against him Brown was reduced to bribing the DUP The 42-day proposal was passed by 315 MPs to 306 - with votes by the nine DUP MPs proving crucial. But there was uproar in the Commons as the result of the key vote on 42 days was announced after five hours of tense debate - with Tory and Lib Dem MPs shouting "You've been bought" at the DUP benches. They claim the DUP was offered a string of inducements - including extra financial help for Northern Ireland - to guarantee its support. Full story HERE

Philosopher's Stoned- 06-12-2008

What this demonstrates to me, is simply how totally undemocratic the much vaunted - by politicians, of course! - British system of parliamentary so-called "Democracy" has become. In order to drive through legislation which most citizens and most of those in jurisprudence are against, the PM does deals, on the sly and on the side, over matters which more properly ought to be subject to open parliamentary debate. This has all been about a tosser PM, well past his sell by date, desperately trying to win a vote to show he's "In Charge" and thus retain some vestige of his fast sinking credibility. What a total tip this bloody awful country has become!

Percy- 07-18-2008

Perhaps the nationalists have a point. The only chance of a new 'Bill of Rights' would be if the Union was to break up and England was independent. This opens up the possibility of a strange alliance - English nationalists & libertarians. Whatever happens it's clear that the current government has turned against the people.

Percy- 07-25-2008

Seriously though, I doubt that anyone will donate a bent penny to this scam, other than those who are already involved, and from the state of the accounts that doesn't look promising at all! According to the the email I received from Graham Williamson (...worth a google if you're unfamiliar with that name): a sum of £3,150 was raised, largely on the day itself (15th). Mr Williamson claims that a 'great deal of support' came from Ron Paul supporters. I've often wondered if the BNP ITSELF was an artificial establishment construct, a sort of safety valve that could be left in the hands of Nasty Nick and his friends knowing that they would stand very little chance of success. Seriously, no real political party could possibly be so inept or be filled with such a collection of losers! With all pundits predicting a downturn, might the same puppet-masters be interested in creating a more plausible party, possibly even a non-racist party that COULD win a pro-*test*-('") vote against the 3 main parties while guaranteeing the continuing existence of their shadowy masters? Enter the National Liberals...
