It's time we had a new Magna Carta to protect our rights
Interesting initiative here. http://www.civilliberty.org.uk/newsdetail.php?newsid=394

Hmm, interesting to know who is behind it. Given your predilection for the BNP I cannot see for a second that you would choose to promote something that wasn't connected to or arising from them. Care to elucidate?

Jack London- 06-07-2008

Tut, tut, you cynical old bugger. Google 'National Liberal Party' and see what arises.

Tony- 06-07-2008

SO, is that Moldova? Lebanon? El Salvador, maybe?

Tony- 06-07-2008

I was right then, except that it is more National front than BNP. I don't think that it will be of much interest somehow. The Third Way is behind it, their finances don't exactly impress: According to accounts filed with the Electoral Commission, in 2006 Third Way had 20 members and cashflow of approximately £1,400. (The party's constitution distinguishes between 'Members', 'Registered Supporters' and 'Supporting Subscribers' (Third Way Constitution 2000). Third Way only gives figures for 'Members'. Third Way also operates through a number of associated limited companies and associations, most obviously Third Way Publications Ltd, whose turnover in their most recently filed company accounts (for year ending March 2004) was £687, and the dormant Third Way Movement Ltd. --- So not exactly impressive then... no wonder they want 10,000 people to give them a tenner! Don't hold your breath!

Jack London- 06-07-2008

My tenner is on the way, Tony. Don't be such a stinge! How about yours?

Philosopher's Stoned- 06-07-2008

All apart from the singular fact that Tone BLiar promised us a sort of Bill of Rights - like he promised us a lot which never happened; Heh! Politician's promises, right? As reliable as one of Alan Sugar's warranties! - Magna Carta set out the rights of the Barons from the King, not the serfs. Magna Carta did, however, commence the process whereby the common man might expect a little more than simply existing as a feudal possession of his leige lord. Magna Carta did, however establish certain precedents from which later, flowed various principles of law, which were expanded, eventually, to imrpove the lot of the commoner. The later English Bill of Rights was far more critical to the common man. http://www.unlockdemocracy.org.uk/?tag=magna-carta So my conclusion is that not only is these people's history flawed, they are seeking my tenner under false colours, thus sadly, No Deal!

And it's a big NO THANKS from me too. National Liberals - Third Way - Solidarity - BNP ...and on top of all of those connections, being promoted on the Civil Liberty website as 'a good idea'... Nice try through. I see Patrick Harrington is still active.

Tony- 06-07-2008

It was just a bit too obvious. I don't think that there are any sheep in here, so, apart from being an interesting diversion momentarily it isn't going anywhere, at least as far as recruiting in here is concerned. Seriously though, I doubt that anyone will donate a bent penny to this scam, other than those who are already involved, and from the state of the accounts that doesn't look promising at all!

Jack London- 06-08-2008

Spoilsports!

Tony- 06-08-2008

The only way that NLP could be considered sport would be to give them half an hour's head start and then hunt them with guns and dogs.

Jack London- 06-08-2008

You are just so cynical and full of hurt, Tony. Let it out (and send a tenner!)

Tony- 06-08-2008

Don't be silly Jack, and why on earth would I want to waste money giving it to some of the least deserving people on the planet? We do enough of that already in taxes! Give up on it, you've already managed to establish the NLP as a joke, quit while people are still capable of laughing at it!

Jack London- 06-08-2008

You are a scream, Tony. Veritas claimed that prize long ago!

Tony- 06-08-2008

I didn't give Veritas any money and it is utterly irrelevant to the tripe that you are promoting.
